Biography
I have a background of participating in painting and drawing classes. I exhibited coloured photographs in the 1990’s in Juried Art Shows at Vernon Art Gallery. Later in Vancouver I joined the West End Photography Society (1997) and was introduced to black and white photography in the darkroom. I joined Focal Point Photography School and obtained their certification. I had a solo B & W exhibition in Vernon Art Gallery and in Vancouver’s Italian Centre as well as participating in Group Shows.
The images in this gallery are from North Yorkshire communities, including Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. They are all linked along the cliffs by the Cleveland Way Coastal Path.

At a pre-pandemic Beau Photo exhibition and address by Vancouver photographer Trevor Martin, I was struck by his advice to examine old negatives and re-assess them. During the pandemic I made prints of old negatives that had been mislaid at our family home in Vernon BC. They had never been enlarged. The below images were all taken in 2005, in Central Mexico and Portugal, and enlarged in 2020 and 2021 using an old Meopta enlarger. My subject was often “People and Architecture” as I much enjoyed the combination of both while travelling. I use a Canon EOS Elan 11 camera, and Canon Lens EF 50mm 1:1.4.
